Utilizing PRP therapy, we’re able to offer a therapeutic option for hair loss in men and women. And by restoring your hair, we’ll restore your confidence in the process, too.

How Does the PRP Treatment Work?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments have been around since the 80s, treating a wealth of conditions relating to muscles, ligaments, and tendons.

This is because platelets are the first cells to be sent to an area when you injure yourself. They release growth factors which help speed up the healing process by stimulating new tissue cells.

When it comes to your hair, PRP is thought to help encourage the growth of new hair follicles by stimulating various cells in this area, including stem cells. Therefore, the theory behind this hair restoration technique is to stimulate newly implanted or inactive hair follicles so they return to an active growing phase.

Not only do they trigger this natural growth of hair but it’s believed they maintain it too because they help increase the blood supply to your hair follicles. This may even add to the thickness of your hair as well.

That’s why this approach is sometimes used alongside other medications or hair loss procedures.

What’s Involved in this PRP Treatment?

Our treatment plan involves three simple steps and will require three individual treatments that take place every 4 to 6 weeks. You may also need “top up” treatments which we can carry out every 4 to 6 months.

  • Step 1: We draw blood from your arm (rather like when you have a blood test) before putting this blood in a centrifuge. This spins your blood at high speeds to separate all of its components.
  • Step 2: 10 minutes later, we will have the three parts of your blood separated. These are the red blood cells, the platelet-poor plasma, and the platelet-rich plasma.
  • Step 3: We draw the platelet-rich plasma into a syringe and inject this into the areas of your scalp that require accelerated hair growth.

Even though research into this treatment is still in its infancy, the early signs are very promising.

For example, one recent study found a significant reduction in hair loss when using the therapy, suggesting it is a feasible, cost-effective, and simple treatment option for those who are suffering from androgenic alopecia. Patient satisfaction was also high.
